Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to stock up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck comes in several models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This version has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet needs to go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not just slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This particular model is ideal in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Inside nearly all warehouses, there are usually more than one type of reach truck. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and could maximize available storage space while increasing productivity.
