The forklift is an essential piece of machine in most companies which operate distribution centers, warehouses, storage handling and industrial plants. This great equipment, the lift truck is constructed of various parts, including the essential carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Forklifts usually have a variety of attachments as well. The following are some of the most important lift truck parts.
Engine of the Forklift - At the back of the machine, the lift truck has its power source. The different types of engine on the forklift would need varying power sources. For example, a lift truck with an internal combustion engine could have as its power source any of the following: gasoline, diesel, LP gas or CNG gas. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Frame of The Truck - The truck frame is the base of the forklift and the most vital of all the forklift parts. This forms the machine's core. All other lift truck components are attached to the base, including the overhead guard, counterweight, axles, mast and wheels. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks can be part of the frame assembly also.
Counterweight Lift Truck Components - the counterweight is what enables the machinery to be balanced while carrying heavy cargo. This part is made of heavy cast iron and is attached to the backend of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric lift truck gives balance and may function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this area is where the operator sits and drives the machinery. Several forklifts have a cab area that is open to the air and some have closed cabs. There are many parts located in the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such important parts like for example the pedals, seats, switches, levers, operator controls and steering wheel. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
