Different Classes of Aerial Lift

A particular kind of heavy equipment that enables a person to be raised into the air is aerial lifts. These machines are usually utilized to perform repairs on areas which are high up in the air like on roofs, near power lines and street-light fixtures. Similar to the majority of tools, there are various types of aerial lifts which could be used to perform a variety of tasks. For the utmost safety, each and every kind of different type of machine needs proper training and specific qualifications prior to operation.

Scissor Lifts

Genie lifts are another name for scissor lifts. These machinery are the most basic kind of aerial lift available. These lifts are made of a platform which is raised up using pneumatic power and are mostly used for indoor applications. Usually, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts can be driven like big carts. Normally, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone could utilize these tools, employees should be licensed as operators.

Boom Lifts

The boom lift is a much more complex type of aerial lift equipment compared to a scissor lift. The boom lift often has a much wider base in order to keep the lift anchored. It utilizes a jointed arm which has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box situated in the bucket that enables the operator to lower and raise the bucket. Because the arm of the boom is jointed, it can also move from side to side. The boom lift looks like a tail of a metal scorpion. Usually, it is used in outdoor construction applications. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to operate compared to scissor lifts, hence, operators need to be certified separately for these kinds of lifts.
