Types of Construction Lifts or Boom Lifts
Construction lifts refer to the machinery used to allow workers to locate high-up places without building any scaffolding. They are used to work on elevated structures, to do maintenance work and are common machines found in factory and warehouse environment as well.
Boom lifts can usually provide wheeled and powered bases that could drive itself to the work place and have a platform on them to lift the employees. There are many different types of lifts and each and every one is suited to different tasks and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Cherry pickers or bucket trucks, are built with a long boom that has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where a worker could stand. Usually, bucket trucks are used by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers usually use these equipment to cut trees.
Bucket trucks are equipped with a boom assembly which is mounted on a standard truck, and this means these lifts could travel on roads at normal traffic speeds. This mobility really increases the area they can effectively service. This is specially important for power companies. For example, a lot of these businesses use cherry pickers to elevate employees up so they could work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets have to be checked frequently and correctly insulated since they are working close to possible shock hazards.
Knuckle lifts or articulated boom lifts include a work platform mounted to an arm that can bend and reach obstacles. The base of the lift contains a turntable and can turn the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.
Typically, the articulated boom lift is utilized for landscaping projects but is also useful for maintenance work on projects which are already finished. Projects that do not need easy access directly beneath the jobsite. These lifts could be utilized to repair piping or exterior electrical work, and areas that are difficult to clean. Usually knuckle lifts are driven by the employee in the platform with the boom extended.
