Hazards of Type-G forklifts

The forklift is essential for completing warehouse tasks. These extremely capable machinery lift and transport loads of immense size from one place to another. Lift trucks have numerous variations. The main variation is the way in which various units are fueled. "LP" forklifts are the most common type. They operate on liquid propane. Type "E" forklifts run on electricity and have large rechargeable batteries. Type "D" lift trucks utilize diesel and type "G" operate on gasoline. Though all types of lift trucks, similar to any piece of heavy machinery, could pose a hazard, the kind of forklifts that are powered by gasoline carry the most risks.

Fire

Forklifts labelled type G can present a fire hazard. Gas lift trucks are not made with the same rigorous standards. Gas leaks are the biggest cause of fire due mostly to gas leaks and also escaped gas fumes. This could result from normal wear and from accidents or driving on extremely rough terrain. These circumstances pose a risk and can result in fire. Therefore, a typical Type G lift truck must never be utilized in conditions where elevated fire risk is deemed not acceptable. For example, these units should not be utilized around dangerous or explosive chemicals.

Explosion

Gas lift trucks also pose a risk of explosion, as do diesel and liquid propane based lift trucks. A gasoline fueled forklift can explode as a result of a serious mishap in circumstances where a gasoline leak and an ignition source are present. An explosion can happen when sparks are created in the collision and the sparks ignite the gasoline.

Fumes and Exhaust

Type G forklifts pose a serious inhalation hazard because of toxic fumes. Gasoline fumes could be deadly in high concentrations. Fumes can result from gasoline leaks or from the exhaust itself. Thus, a Type G forklift is really not recommended for any environment which is poorly ventilated. The exhaust would present a serious hazard in enclosed places. This particular type of forklift should be used with caution when operated near individuals.
